(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Gwendolyn Michelle Leggott passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of Friday, September 11, 2026, with her mom and sister present.
She was preceded in death by her grandma, Linda Mason; godmother, Amy Foster; stepmom, Raven Luna-Blackraven; close friend, Michael Slawter; and fur babies, Meko, Jett, and Emmy Marley "Baby Boy."
She was a bright light in everyone's life that she entered and, therefore, is survived by many friends, relatives, and chosen family. Some include: her mom, Sharon Mason (spouse, Mike Castle); sister, Jade Nicholas (partner, Karsten Nicholas); her uncle, aunt, and cousins: Mike, Louanne, Nadia, Amelie, and Dani Mason; and her cats, Tarot and Nitro.
Born May 12, 1991, in Dallas, TX, Gwen accomplished a lot in her short life and had a variety of interests and passion projects. Whether snapping photographs, reading tarot, making pottery, modeling, building Lego models, singing songs, or doing nails - she always went full in honing her skills in each.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Missouri Southern State University in theatre with a minor in art. Immensely artistic and creative, she was involved in theatre, dance, music, art, and fashion throughout her life with organizations such as Midwest Regional Ballet Company, Pittsburg Community Theatre, and Joplin Little Theatre.
She was proud of buying her house at 25 in 2016 and enjoyed making it into a sanctuary for herself and others who felt like outsiders. She loved helping people and animals. This desire inspired her to pivot from being a Fleet Manager with local trucking companies to becoming a Certified Peer Support Specialist in the behavioral health field.
Her aesthetic was influenced by her love of nature, light & dark, and witchy glamour - this is seen in her collections of mermaids, pinup art, crystals & rocks, fragrances, Harry Potter, peacocks, and penguins. Penguins began with her childhood nickname "Pen-Gwen."
In honor of Thanksgiving being her favorite holiday, a celebration of life will be held for her on Saturday, November 14, 2026. Details to follow, all are welcome.
