(From Parker Mortuary)Teresa Diane DeVore, age 74, of Carthage, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Freeman Hospital West.
Teresa was born on August 30, 1952, to the late Ernest and Lorene (Blood) DeVore. Teresa devoted many years of hard work to AT&T, where she steadily advanced through the company. She finished her career in the Directory Services department, a role that reflected both her dedication and her reliability.
Outside of work, Teresa embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. Music was one of her greatest joys, and she especially loved rhythm and blues, funk, and the experience of touring with her boyfriend. She also enjoyed reading and traveling, finding pleasure in learning, exploring, and discovering new places. Teresa was fortunate to see much of the world during her lifetime. She traveled on several vacations to Egypt, Europe, England, and France, experiences that broadened her perspective and deepened her appreciation for history and culture. She was extremely intellectual and politically knowledgeable, and she enjoyed staying informed about the world around her. Her mind was sharp, her opinions were well considered.
Animals held a special place in Teresa’s heart. They were her favorite, and she gave her time and care by volunteering at local humane societies. Her compassion for animals was also reflected in her support of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, an organization she admired deeply. Teresa will be remembered for the many ways she enriched the lives of others. She was thoughtful in her words, steady in her actions, and kind in her spirit. She had a gentle nature, yet she was also strong in her beliefs and thoughtful in her understanding of the world.
Teresa was preceded in death by three siblings, Cheryl DeVore, Constance Bowen, and Donna Sue Moore.
Teresa is survived by her sister, Joyous DeVore; nephew, Shane Moore and his wife, Stephanie; niece, Michelle Gibson and her husband, Mitch; brother-in-law, Fred Moore; and stepmother, Ruth DeVore-Manes and husband, Richard Manes.
Cremation arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
