Daniel Lee Nelson, Jr. of Quapaw, OK passed from this life Saturday, September 26, 2026. He was 57.

Daniel was born April 20, 1969 in Baxter Springs, KS to Daniel Lee and Linda (White) Nelson, Sr. He had lived in the Quapaw area all his life and graduated from Quapaw High School class of 1987. He had worked in construction and as a mechanic for Able Body in Joplin, MO. Daniel was a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe and the Native American Church.

Daniel is survived by 1 son, Korey James Nelson and wife Brandi of Baxter Springs, KS, his parents, Daniel and Linda Nelson of Quapaw, OK, 1 sister, Tonya On-The-Hill and husband Bradley of Fairland, OK and 2 grandchildren, Noah Rose Nelson and Elliot Jae Nelson.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2026 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Rev. Clayton Randall White will officiate. Bill Blalock and Jeff Blalock will conduct native American rites. Korey Nelson, Brad On-The-Hill, Bradley Parker and John Joseph Olsen will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in G.A.R.
