George Deatherage

George Austin Deatherage, 66, of Verona, Missouri passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026, with his family by his side. George was born on May 20, 1960, in Bakersfield, California; the son of Tom and Ruby Jean Deatherage. George was a 1978 graduate of Aurora High School. He was united in marriage to Mary Bellm on January 21, 1995. George and Mary shared 31 years of marriage and were blessed with one son, Clint.

George began working at an early age. He worked as a lineman for Empire/Liberty Electric for 36+ years where he retired in 2017. During those years, George spent countless hours on the farm where you could always find him caring for the cattle, cutting or hauling hay, clearing brush or taking his grandkids for a ride. George loved to be outside and on a piece of equipment. His greatest accomplishments were his family, wife Mary, son Clint and his wife Peyton and grandkids Sage and Finley, whom he was so very proud of. He will be greatly missed by all whom he helped throughout this area and his close friends and family. 

George was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ruby Jean Deatherage; his sisters, Jeanine Deatherage and Debbie Walsh; his father-in-law, Lawrence (Buster) Bellm and mother-in-law, Louise Bellm.

George is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Clint; daughter-in-law, Peyton; grandchildren, Sage and Finley Deatherage; sister, Connie Blake and her husband Clair; brother-in-law, Mike Walsh; sister-in-law, Kathy (John) Heidlage; brother-in-law, Rick (Carol) Bellm; brother-in-law, Dennis (Neina) Bellm; sister-in-law, Patty (Tim) Osterloh; brother-in-law, Greg (Joyce) Bellm; sister-in-law, Stephanie (Bruce) Heman; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora, Missouri on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.

Funeral service will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora, Missouri on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM with Father Paul Pudhota officiating. George will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pierce City, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, in George's memory, to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, Missouri.
