Donnie Rogers

Donald Neal Rogers, age 86, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026, at his home with his family by his side.

Donnie was born December 16, 1939, in Carthage, Missouri, to Donavan and Faye (Hern) Rogers.

On March 15, 1968, Donnie married Sandra Logsdon of Carthage, Missouri. For 58 years, they stood side by side through all that life brought their way. Their marriage was built on commitment, loyalty, and a love that endured through the good times and the difficult ones. In his final days, Sandy cared for Donnie with remarkable devotion, staying by his side just as she had throughout their life together. Sandy survives him.

Donnie was a no-nonsense kind of man, and yet he loved deeply. He had been through some challenges in his younger years, but he was determined to give his own family a life of love, stability, and security. He succeeded at this by the little things he did and the countless ways he showed up for those he loved. He made each person feel seen, valued, and deeply cared for.

Donnie loved the Lord, and his faith was an important part of his life. While raising their own sons, Donnie and Sandy spent many years serving as volunteer youth leaders at Christ Church of Perseverance in Joplin. They invested their time and lives in young people, sharing their faith and helping guide another generation.

One of Donnie's greatest legacies is the family he leaves behind. He taught his boys what it meant to be men—to work hard, take care of their families, keep their word, and do what needed to be done. Those boys grew into husbands and fathers who love and lead their own families well, a reflection of the man who taught them. His influence will continue through them and through the generations that follow.

Donnie was proud of his time in the United States Air Force as a Senior Airman and especially his time while stationed in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He often spoke with pride about his experiences during those years, and his love for his country remained with him throughout his life.

Donnie graduated from Carthage High School and, after his time in the military, retired from Smallwood Gas, where he worked for 32 years.

Donnie will be deeply missed by his wife, Sandy; Brian (son) & Meri, Greyson & Sierra, Sage & Kaelei, Sophia, and Israel; Brad (son) & Kristy, Kailey & Jake, and Garrett & Callie; Keith (son) & Jodi, Ellen & Sully (Quinn, Rowan), Seth & Faith, and Abi; Sharon (sister) & Steve; cousins Joy & Butch, Donna, and Bud. He was dearly loved by lifelong friends Donna & John Honey, Don LeMasters, and Donnie LeMasters as well as numerous other extended family members and friends.

A small family memorial service at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri, will be planned at a later date.
