(From Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home)Robert "Rob" Close, age 57, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from complications with double pneumonia. His wife, Bridget, mother, Mary, and brother, Aaron were by his side.
Rob was born May 29, 1969, in Monett, Missouri. He graduated high school in Nevada, Missouri. Rob became a Christian at an early age, and his spirit touched many lives. He was a Walmart Associate for 26 years in Springfield. He was deeply involved in Springfield's metal music scene and was rhythm guitarist for ApneA and later with Life Eternal.
He is survived by his wife, Bridget Braden Close; mother, Mary Daugherty Close Hansen; father, Bill (Phyllis) Close; and brother Aaron (Amy) Close.
He is preceded in death by his brother Jeff Close; mother-in-law, Debra Wolfe; and father-in-law, Steven Braden.
Visitation will be at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 2, 2026, at All Saints Anglican Church at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Selmore Cemetery in Ozark, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
