Walter Smith

Walter Thomas Smith, 89 of Lynnwood, WA, he was born in Big Cabin, Oklahoma to John and Thelma (Caywood) Smith. He graduated from Big Cabin High School in 1956. After High School, he served in the Army National Guard until he began his career at Boeing. In 1960, he married Sandra Sue Kelly. In 1968, he transferred to the Everett Boeing Plant on the 747 program. Walter retired after 32 years with Boeing.

He survived by his 2 children, Jeff and Barry Smith both of Everett; his sister, Thelma Pauline “Polly” of Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Sue in 2018, by 2 sisters, Mary and Shirley and his brother, John.

Walter and Sue were longtime members of the Square-Dancing group the Whirly Birds in the Hayloft in Lynnwood.

Funeral services for Walter were held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett WA 98203.

Walter will be laid to rest next to his wife, Sue at Dice Cemetery, Fairview, MO. Graveside services are being held at 1:00p.m. on Saturday October 3, 2026.

Graveside funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri.
