Emmett McCreary, age 90, of Webb City, Missouri passed away Tuesday December 8, 2015 following a short illness.
He was born May 20, 1925 in Joplin, Missouri to Carl and Grace (Isbell) McCreary. Emmett served in the United States Army as a medic during World War II. After his service to his country he owned and operated a sanitation business. He sold that company after many years and then worked for Missouri Southern State College and for the Webb City R-VII School District.
He married Faye Byrd on September 16, 2000 and she survives. He is also survived by four sons; Donnie Pendergraft, Marty Pendergraft, Roger Pendergraft and Randy Pendergraft, four daughters; Trudy Speers, Kathy Allen, Evelyn Roberts and Patricia Day, one brother, Billie, one sister, Lillie Mae and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, one son, Jimmie, two brothers; Tracy and Virgil, and three sisters; Mildred, Fern and Orlean.
Those gentlemen honoring his life by serving as pallbearers will be; Donnie Pendergraft, Marty Pendergraft, Roger Pendergraft, Randy Pendergraft, Dennis McCreary, and Terry Roberts.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Webb City, Missouri with Pastor Kyle Beverlin and Pastor Jeff Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City, Missouri.
