Fred J. Allen, 74 years old, died Sunday December 27th, at Medicalodge of Columbus after a long struggle with Pick’s Dementia.
Fred, a lifelong resident of Scammon, Ks, was born on March 31, 1941 to James C. and Helen Elizabeth (Hisle) Allen. Fred graduated from West Mineral High School in 1959 and joined the Army Reserves in which he served for seven years with an honorable discharge.
In 1972 he married Molly M. Kieselbach in Jefferson City, MO. Molly survives at the home in Columbus. In the past Fred worked various jobs including Burgan’s Trucking and Excavating and the Gulf Chemical Plant. More recently Fred had owned and operated his own plumbing and electrical repair and supply business (Fred’s Plumbing & Electric) since 1975 and had a family-owned rental business, F&M Rental, from 1994-2006. He was a member of the Scammon Presbyterian Church.
Other survivors include one daughter, Elesha B. Draeger (Ben) of rural Columbus, one son Blake J. Allen of Norman, Ok, two grandchildren Cameron D. Draeger and Katelyn M. Draeger of Columbus, sisters Mary Lou Ross (Jim) of Cotter, AR, Alberta Flowers of Satellite Beach, FL., and Carole Thornton (Bennie) of Miami, OK, brothers Bill Allen of Trenton, Mo, Tom Allen (Mary) of Miami, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James, Walter, and Jack, sister Flora Lee Bowin, and brothers-in-law Rennie Bowin and Louis Flowers.
His body has been cremated and services will be announced at a later date.
