Jerry Sherwood

Gerald ‘Jerry’ Lloyd Sherwood, 88, Neosho, died December 7, 2015 at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin. 

He was born January 2, 1927 in Boise, Idaho, the son of Gerald George and Lucy (Lloyd) Sherwood. Jerry graduated from Boise High School and then served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII. After his military service, he moved to California where he worked for Boeing on the Apollo Space Program, retiring in 1990. Following his retirement, Jerry moved to Neosho in 1997. He was a member of the First Christian Church, was past Commander of the Neosho American Legion and was a Hamm Radio operator. 

Jerry married Louise Chrisman Swain in 1988 in Bakersfield, California, and she survives. Also surviving are four children, Ronald Sherwood, George Sherwood, Terry McGuire and Tracy Sherwood; five step daughters, Teresa Vibe, Carolyn Peters, Susan Carr, Billie Sue Swain-Records and Nancy Harris and one sister, Edith Carrera. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
