Lee Paul Manuel Jr., age 64, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 4:00 a.m. Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. Lee was born February 8, 1951 in Jennings, Louisiana. He attended Ozark Bible College in Joplin and returned to Joplin in 2003 from Jennings. He currently was the owner of LMJ Contractor, a construction and roofing company. He was a member of the College Heights Christian Church.
Lee met his wife, Angie, while preaching in Yellville, AR, because her Aunt insisted she meet this handsome young preacher. They exchanged 70 love letters, only seeing each other four times before getting married June 7, 1974. He thought the most important thing in life was to preach the gospel and do good for others. His love for Jesus overflowed to his family, friends, and anyone he met. He loved telling stories, especially Bible stories, country music, NASCAR, football, baseball, and doughnuts.
He is survived by the love of his life, Angie, a son, Jamie Boyce Manuel and wife Emily, Littleton, CO, two daughters, Carrie Beth Morrell and husband Greg, Carl Junction, MO, and Laura Lee Parker and husband Jared, Collinsville, OK, one sister, Nancy Durre, Pensacola, FL, five grandchildren, Emma and Claire Morrell, and Caleb, Bennett, and Aurora Lee Parker, five grand dogs, and a half blind nameless cat.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the College Heights Christian Church Chapel with Randy Gariss and Boyce Mouton, Ministers, officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, read your Bible, tell someone you love them, and vote Republican. Memorial contributions are requested to God’s Resort in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
