Cynthia Jo LaMere, age 62, of Webb City, passed away Sunday, Dec. 27 at CoxHealth South in Springfield. She had been treated for cancer for several years.
Mrs. LaMere was born on Nov. 19, 1953, in Grand Rapids, Mich. to John and Delores Harris Stadler. She grew up in lower Michigan prior to graduating from high school in Champion, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where she met her husband. She was a nurse prior to starting a family and moving here in 1979 to join her parents in operating the accounting firm Stadler-LaMere and Associates. She and her husband became owners of the firm, and she managed the office. She was a member of Wellspring Church.
Cindy married Ron “Smiley” LaMere on Dec. 7, 1974, in Champion. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2012. Survivors include two daughters, Carrie Mayes and her husband Shawn, Joplin, and Melodee Long and her husband Ben, Webb City; four grandchildren, Makayla and Eli Mayes and Kaylee and Trey Long; her mother, Dee Kamler; a brother, John Stadler and his wife Kathy, Olympia, Wash., and Robert Stadler and his wife Jill, Buffalo, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. Cindy was preceded in death by her father, John Stadler.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31 at Christ’s Church of Oronogo, with Pastor Scott Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ron and Cindy LaMere Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of the Webb City R-7 Schools Foundation, or to Webb City CARES.
