Mrs. Myrna Ann Howard, 78, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday afternoon, December 3, 2015, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after a brief illness.
Myrna entered this life on January 24, 1937, in Joplin, Missouri, the only child born to the late Alan and Lois (Garrison) Thompson. She was a lifelong resident of Joplin. On June 22, 1964 in Joplin, she was united in marriage to Donald Gene “Don” Howard and to this union one son was born. Besides being a devoted homemaker, Myrna also worked for over twenty-three years at Fred & Red’s in Joplin as a waitress. She was a longtime active member of Royal Heights Baptist Church in Joplin. She loved her Lord, her church family and Christian music. She was soft spoken, very kind and had a giving heart and was always looking forward to spending time and holidays with her son’s family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Don Howard on August 2, 2015.
Myrna is survived by her son, Carmine Howard and wife, Karla, of Joplin; five grandchildren, Jacob Howard, Scott Howard, Sasha Yocum, Jessica Nichols and Farris Racer; along with several great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri, with Pastor Tom Wilson officiating. Following the graveside, family and friends will gather at Royal Heights Baptist Church for a time of fellowship.
