Maxine Jensen

Maxine McFadden Jensen was born November 4, 1925 at the family farm outside of Avilla, Mo. She passed away November 30, 2015 in Tyler, Texas where she spent her last five years to be closer to her children.

At an early age the family moved into Carthage where she and her brother Joe and her sisters Ilene and Peggy attended school. Upon graduation from high school she began working, not having the money to attend college. She was working at the Carthage Creamery Company when she met Philip B. Jensen upon his return from overseas service. They were married in May, 1946 and raised their family in Carthage.

Mother was very involved in the First Presbyterian Church, her children’s activities, Daughters of the American Revolution and P.E.O. She loved playing golf and bridge and having a glass of wine in the evening.

Mother was an extremely strong willed person yet gracious. She never backed down from any of the challenges presented by life. She was fearless in life and fearless in the face of death. She will be missed by her family and the many friends she made over the years.

She was predeceased by her husband Philip, her parents Allen and Helen McFadden, her brother Joe and sisters Peggy and Ilene. She is survived by her daughter Danae Clark and husband John of Cedar Park, Texas, her son Phil and wife Jamie of Bullard, Texas and her son Mac and wife Sue of Houston, Texas along with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 10:30 am in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, Carthage, Missouri followed by inurnment in the family plot in Park Cemetery, Carthage. In lieu of flowers it is requested donations be made to St Paul Children’s Foundation, PO Box 1238, Tyler, Texas 75710 or the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.
