Wayne Alan “Butch” Kirkpatrick, Jr., age 57, of Alvarado, Texas, formerly of Kenoma, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his home.
Wayne was born October 3, 1958, in Deadwood, South Dakota, one of the five children of Wayne, Sr. and Darlene (Lamberton) Kirkpatrick. Active and athletic as a young man, Wayne earned a purple belt in Judo. On August 21, 1979, he entered the U.S. Navy and was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy while in the service.
With loving, compassionate family support and his indomitable spirit, Wayne was an inspiration to many during his long-time struggle with his health. He was very patriotic and loved his country, as evidenced by his extensive collection of eagles. He enjoyed watching Monday night wrestling and old-time westerns, especially Bonanza and Bat Masterson. Butch appreciated the companionship of his loyal dog, Max.
Survivors include his mother, Darlene, of the home; two daughters, Samantha Carr, Abilene, Texas and Sarah Grace Kirkpatrick, Carthage, Missouri; two brothers, Kelly (Karen) Kirkpatrick, Lamar, Missouri and Michael Kirkpatrick of the home; a sister, Barbara (Sam) Davis, Alvarado, Texas; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Kirkpatrick, Sr.; a brother Jack Jay Kirkpatrick; and a great-nephew, John Michael Kirkpatrick.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 12that Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar. A graveside funeral service with full military honors will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Howell Cemetery south of Milford, Missouri.
