Gary Wayne Hicks, 63, Carthage, MO, passed away Monday evening, December 21, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness. Gary Wayne Hicks was born February 24, 1952 in Carthage, MO to Melvin and Josephine (Wilber) Hicks. He was a graduate of Carthage Senior High School, Class of 1970, and later attended MSSC for two years. Gary married Brenda Fosdick on June 2, 1978 in Miami, OK; she survives. He worked 41 years in maintenance for Dyno Nobel, Carthage, MO. Gary was a member of the Carthage Shrine Club, the Masonic Lodge, the Shriner Train Crew, and the VFW Men’s Auxiliary.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters; Heather Fullerton (husband Justin), Carthage, MO, and Haley Hicks, Carthage, MO; one sister; Melva Peters (husband Darrell), Mansfield, TX; one uncle; Marion (wife Nell) Hicks, Spokane, WA; and four grandchildren; Ava Fullerton, Leah Fullerton, Brody Fullerton, and Preston Hicks.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Merabeth Carnes, and two brothers, David Hicks and Roger Suskey.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Fairview Christian Church, Carthage, MO, with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM. Minister Tony Allmoslecher will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Park Cemetery, Carthage, MO. Memorial gifts are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Carthage Shrine Club in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836.
