Ella Marie Gough, age 90, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 11:19 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Silver Creek Assisted Living Center. Ella was born March 3, 1925 in Frankfort, Kansas and returned to Joplin in 1965. She worked as an auditor in the accounting department of the J. C. Penney Store in Joplin. She retired in 1995 after 30 years of service. Ella attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the J.C. Penney Retirees.
Ella married John G. Gough May 25, 1943 in Frankfort, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Richard, one brother, and five sisters. Survivors include two sons, John Gough and wife Kathy, Rancho Cucamonga, California, and Bobby Gough and wife Jan, Joplin, two daughters, Ruth Castle and husband Bud, Clearwater, Kansas, and Helen White and husband Cecil, Wagoner, Oklahoma, one brother, Robert Warnica and wife Nelda, Manhattan, Kansas, two sisters, Elma Hough, Frankfort, Kansas, and Maxine Stewart, Washington, Kansas, six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Rev. Greg Snow officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the Mortuary. Memorial contributions are requested to the Arbors at Silver Creek Assisted Living Center in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
