Roger H Reed, 87, passed away peacefully December 13, 2015,
He was the widower of Marijane Reed who preceded him in death on June 8, 2015. They shared 27 loving years together, with many great memories. Roger proudly served his country in the Navy. He served in both WWII, and the Korean War where he was stationed on the U.S.S. Thompson. He was awarded the Victory Medal in WWII, Korean Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Medal. Roger was born in Detroit Michigan. He was the Son of Sidney Franklin Reed and Helen Schooley. He graduated high school at an early age and continued his education at the Kansas State Teachers College. He was employed for several years at Hofer Trucking in Pittsburg, KS and retired from Russ Moser working as a parts manager. He was a proud member and commander of the Pittsburg VFW. Roger was an avid collector of many things he cherished, and had a great love for his dogs.
Roger was a loving step-father to his children, son Eric Danner, and wife Tara and daughter, Kimber Shields. He was a loving grandfather to his grandkids Brian and Stephen Shields, additional family includes nieces Jackie Reuwer, Denton, TX, Debbie Walker and Donna Cockburn of Illinois, and nephew Dave Britt of Illinois. He is also survived by Roger Reed II, Bob Reed, and Tani Reed.
Graveside services will be held Friday December 18, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Park Cemetery, Carthage, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
