Duane H. Hebner, age 85, Joplin, passed away at 5:48 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2015 at his residence after an illness.
Duane was born July 2, 1930 in Jacksonville, Illinois to the late Edwin Hebner and Wilda Hettick Hebner and had lived in Joplin most of his life.
He worked as an electrician for Allen Electric for several years and as an electrical inspector for the City of Joplin for thirteen years. Duane was a member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors; I.B.E.W. Local #95; Robert S. Thurman American Legion Post #13 and First United Methodist Church of Joplin. As a licensed scuba diver, he was also a member of the Show Me Divers Club and the Jasper County Rescue and Disaster Relief Team. Duane was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in both Vietnam and Korea.
He married Barbara J. Petersen on September 14, 2000 in Springfield. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Angelia Hebner, Asbury, Missouri; one brother, Elwin Hebner, Boulder, Colorado; three step children, Wendy Shelton, Carl Junction, Kimberly Bock, Joplin, Alex Hayes, Joplin; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Duane has been taken for cremation.
Family memorial services are being planned for a later date.
