David E. Thomas, age 68 of Joplin, passed away at Freeman Hospital after a sudden illness on Saturday, December 5, 2015.
David was born December 3, 1947 to the late Eugene A. Brown and Ernestine Thomas Carr in Joplin. David served our country in the United States Army, after being drafted during his college years. He retired from Yellow Freight as a mechanic after 31 years of service. David was a Vice President of the Teamsters Union, Local 823. He was a member of Shilo Baptist Church, Joplin.
On July 29, 1968, David married Betty L. Flowers in San Francisco, California. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Troy Thomas and wife, Sandy of Joplin; daughter, Tracey Thomas of Joplin; grandkids, Tre' Thomas, Akilah Medlock, Dantee Fearon and Davin Thomas; great-grandkids, Kiona and Kierra Thomas; sister, Linda Hackner and husband, Charles of Houston, Texas; brothers, Keith Carr of Joplin, Eric Carr and wife, Cynthia of Rochester Hills, Michigan; plus a host of extended family and friends.
Services for David are planned for Wednesday, December 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the Parker Mortuary Chapel. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at the mortuary as well.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
