Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 5th at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper Mo for Thelma I (Sites) Corder, formerly of Golden City, Mo who died at the national Health Care Center, Joplin, Mo. December 1, 2015.
Burial will be in Fasken Cemetery, southeast of Jasper. The body will lie instate as of.
Visitation will be held for 10:00-11:00 Saturday December 5th at the funeral chapel prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
Thelma was born April 18, 1917 to Benjamin & Myrtle (Ensminger) Sites on their farm South of Golden City, Mo. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. She was well known for her love of music and the talent she shared with her accordion playing, harmonica and guitar. She loved living on the farm, gardening, farm animals and special pets, Hughie, Doughy and Louise. But all who knew Thelma knew her for her lovely handmade quilts which numbered many. Thelma continued to share her talents even after her move to Joplin National Health Care.
Thelma loved the Lord and strived every day to serve him in many ways. She was a very active member of the Dudenville Methodist Church, Dudenville, Mo.
Thelma married Roy Corder June 17, 1936 in Carthage, Mo. Roy and their son Billy Ray Corder preceded her in death.
Thelma is survived by a Son James L Corder, Ringgold, La; a granddaughter and her husband Kay and Eddie Lee Bishop, Carthage, Mo; a grandson, Ron Corder, Springfield S.D; three great-granddaughters, Tonya Griepenstroh, Syracusse, Neb., Shawna (Samuel) Rhodd of Fall City, Neb, Cierra Bauman of Carthage, Mo; seven great-great grandchildren , Braden Kendall, Syracuse, Nebraska, Taris & Taryn Coronado, Roberto Angel & Bailey Rhodd of Fall City, Neb, Wyatt & Abagail Johnson, Carthage, Mo. A step granddaughter, Sandy (John) Procell, state of Louisiana; a step-great granddaughter, Misty (Dean) Stewart and children. A niece Juanita (Quinten) Denney, Kansas City, Mo, a nephew Delmar ( Theresa) Bailey, Sand Sp, Ok, niece Lili Bailey, Tulsa, Ok, and Suzy (Jerry) Dykes, Tulsa, Ok.
Thelma will be missed by all but we are all a better person for having known her
