Rellas M. Boydston, age 83, of Joplin, passed away on Tuesday December 22, 2015, at his home, following an illness.
Rellas was born on June 13, 1932 in Ottawa, Ks., the son of the late Teddy L. and Maude (Holt) Boydston. He had been a lifetime area resident. He served in the United States Navy as a Sea Bee and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a boilermaker for Local 83 of Kansas City for twenty-seven years.
He married Jerelene Reynolds in 1978 in Omaha, Ne. She preceded him in death on August 19, 1998. He was also preceded in death by one son, Rellas M. Boydston; two brothers, Dale Boydston and Harold Boydston; and three sisters, Helen Jackson, Virginia Harrison, and Betty Lee Beatty.
Rellas is survived by two sons, Mark Boydston, Independence, Mo., and Kurt Boydston and wife Elizabeth, Overland Park, Ks.; one daughter, Eleanor Boydston, Kansas City, Mo.; a nephew, Neal Boydston, Joplin; seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. Monday prior to the service. Burial will be in Burkhart Cemetery.
