Jean Gay Potter, 94, passed away December 27, 2015 at Maple Tree Terrace in Carthage, MO.
Jean was born November 11, 1921 in Quapaw, Oklahoma, to David Wiles and Ida “Gilmore” Wiles. Jean was a longtime Carthage resident, and taught 5th grade at Mark Twain in Carthage for 27 years. Jean formerly owned Potter’s locker and hatchery on Grant Street. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carthage.
Jean was united in marriage to Lawrence “Larry” Potter he preceded her in death. Jean is survived by one son Larry Potter, and one daughter Nancy Greenwood and husband Garry, two grandchildren Brian Mueller, and Sara Shepherd, six great grandchildren Kylie, Tyler and Ashton Mueller and London, Jace and Urban Shepherd. Jean is preceded in death by her parents and husband, one brother and three sisters.
The body has been taken for cremation and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions can be made at the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Jean in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
