Robert Wesley (Bob) Armstrong, age 87 of Joplin, passed away at 2:43 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Freeman Hospital Emergency Room.
Born January 13, 1928 in Ritchey, MO, he was the only child of the late Caure J. Armstrong and Hazel Marie Beck Armstrong and had lived in Joplin since 1968. A truck driver all of his working life, he drove produce for Brooks Supply and Messick, operated his own truck delivering cars and retired from Yellow Freight in 1985. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Sally of the home; six children, Jahala Joe Kinser of Lee's Summit, MO, Michael Joe Armstrong of Joplin, Kenneth Caure Armstrong of Anderson, MO, Rob Armstrong of Joplin, Shelli Hayslip of Rock Springs, WY, Lana Horton of Glenrock, WY; seven grandchildren, R.W. (Shane) Long, J.B. (Tylor) Long, Shona Armstrong, Jamie Armstrong, Caure Armstrong, Jeramy Dixon and Landon Horton; several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary. Interment will follow at Van Buren Union Cemetery, west of Wentworth, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
