Vernon Linnwood Houck, age 79, passed away on Thursday, June 04, 2020. Vernon was born on Tuesday, March 25, 1941 in Norman, OK to Linwood Hoy "Slim" and Nona Vesta Marie (Ahrens) Houck.
He graduated from Pierce City High School in 1959 and married Connie Fortin on June 8, 1968. Vernon retired from Wells Aluminum after working for over 30 years. Vernon was an avid hunter, trapper and loved to tell stories. The family often wondered if he was born with a fishing pole in his hand. He loved to fish of which he took his nieces, nephews, and other family to every pond around.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; one daughter, Kim (Seufert) and husband, Dale, of Pierce City, MO; one son, John of Wentworth, MO; three grandsons, Michael, Joseph, and Paul; three brothers, Frank (Evelyn) Houck of Grove, OK, Linn Houck of Neosho, MO; and Walt (Kathy) Houck of Wentworth, MO; one sister, Marie (Larry) Turner of Sarcoxie, MO; and many nephews and nieces.
Graveside services, including full military honors, will be at Pierce City Cemetery on June 12, 2020 beginning at 10:30 AM with Rev. Lance Rogers officiating. Friends may call, at their convenience, from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
