Phil Mount

(From Parker Mortuary)

Phillip Austin Mount, age 83, Lebanon, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020 at his home with family at his side.

Phil was born August 2, 1936 in Joplin, son of the late Austin A. Mount and Hazel B. Webster Mount. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1954, then attended Joplin Junior College (now Missouri Southern State University) and Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri. He worked most of his life in Public Relations, working for the Colgate-Palmolive Company, General Motors, Braniff International Airlines, CFI Trucking, and most recently Detroit Tool Metal Products in Lebanon, Missouri. He was of the Methodist faith.

Phil was a man who prided himself in good conversation and loved to visit. His time spent in the airline industry spawned a lifelong love of airplanes. He was an avid collector of miniature airplanes, searching the internet for new models. He specifically enjoyed showing them to his grandchildren and explaining the intricate details of each plane. As an only child, his constant companions were his animals. His current fur baby was his sweet Yorkie, Breezy and she brought him much joy.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Knight Pearcy Mount, of the home; stepchildren, Shellie Pearcy Weaver (Mike), Todd Pearcy (Stacey) all of Lebanon, and Lori Pearcy Turner of Joplin; children, Sheryl Bozarth, David Mount and Janet Grinzinger; seven grandchildren, Garrett Weaver (Amanda), Olivia Weaver Paciletti (Giulio), Grant Weaver, Morgan Pearcy Sharp (Grant), Nick Pearcy, Emma Turner, and Whitson Pearcy Cook; three great-grandchildren, Cora and Cain Sharp, and Hudson Weaver.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at Lebanon Claws and Paws Animal Adoption Center, 18705 Gateway Rd., Lebanon, MO 65536.
