Marvin R Barker, age 72, passed away at 2:32 am, Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, MO following an illness.
Marvin was born July 4, 1947 in Galena, KS. His parents were Cletis M and Elsie M (Shira) Barker. He was a lifetime resident of Galena.
He worked as a welder at Missouri Steel Castings, Joplin, MO from 1968 until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Galena Elks Lodge. Marvin’s favorite pastime was hunting and fishing.
Marvin married his childhood sweetheart, Cathryn L Frazier on September 1, 1967 in Miami, OK. She survives.
Additional survivors include one son, J. D. Barker (wife, Stacy), Galena; one daughter, Stacia Barker, Galena; 3 grandchildren, Shantel (husband, Robinson) Mikowlski, Colton Barker, and Sydney Barker; 3 nieces, Donna McKenna, Debbie Kaledas, and Lynn Reed and one nephew, John Barker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Barker and one sister, Donnis Willis.
Marvin was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. The family will host a graveside service at a later date.
