Billie A. (Matthews) Johnson, age 90 of Webb City, Missouri passed away June 11, 2020, after a long illness. Billie was born on September 11, 1929 in Coffeyville, Kansas to the late Brady Matthews and Retta L. Sheckells.
She married James L. Henderson Sr. in 1945; he was the father of their five children. In her later years, Billie married Billy Joe Johnson. They both preceded her in death.
Billie attended Webb City Schools. She had been an active member of Church of God (7th Day) since June 12, 1965. She worked for her church at Springvale Academy in Owosso, MI and at Fair Haven in Stanberry, MO. Billie loved gospel music, gardening, and being with her family.
She is survived by her son, Jack L. Henderson (Geri) of Mulvane, KS, Jeffery L. Henderson (Carol) of Wichita, KS; her daughters, Janice L. Orr (Tom) of Webb City, MO, Janie L. Goebel (Ed) of Joplin, MO; daughter-in-law, Kay Henderson of Joplin, MO; step-sons, Randy Johnson (Vanessa) of Alba, MO, Jimmy Johnson of Alba, MO, Rick Johnson of Webb City, MO; step-daughter, Jeanne Leonard (Scott) of Oronogo, MO; brothers, Dewey Benson (Arlie) of Augusta, KS, Finice Matthews (Darla) of Harper, KS, Lonnie Matthews of Neosho, MO; sisters, Charlene Slater of Joplin, MO, Beverly Perry; along with 30 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Billie was preceded in death by her son, James L. Henderson, Jr.; her brothers, George Matthews, Stanley Matthews, and Leon Matthews.
Friends and family may come by Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City on Monday, June 15, 2020 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM for viewing. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at Frisco Church in Webb City at 2:00 PM with Josh Dorris officiating. Burial will follow in Carterville Cemetery.
