Joy Davis

Mrs. Joy Davis, 88, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after a recent decline in health.

She began her journey on March 21, 1932 in Kooskia, Idaho, daughter of the late Barton and Vera (Harvey) Lycan. She grew up in rural Kooskia, Idaho and lived there until she was 12. Her family moved to Gentry, Arkansas in 1944, where she attended school and graduated from Gentry High School in 1950. 

On March 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Jarvis William “Bill” Davis and to this union one son was born. She moved to Anderson, Missouri in 1951 where she and her family have remained ever since. 

Not only was Joy a devoted mother and homemaker, but also a hardworking and intelligent woman, having several occupations throughout the years. In 1980, she worked for Beverly and Bill McCracken at the well-known Flick Movie Theater, where she oversaw running and preparing all the movies in the projection room. She also worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the Davis Brothers Oldsmobile and Garage, Anderson State Bank, and was also a cashier at Town and Country. 









After the loss of her husband Bill, she later married Carl Baker. She was a member of the Anderson First Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and caring for her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Bill Davis on March 28, 1987 and Carl Baker; and her two brothers, Albert and Neal Lycan.

Joy is survived by her son, John Davis and wife, Vicky, of Anderson, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jenifer and husband, Landry, John and wife, Victoria, Tierra, Jason, Rebekka and husband, Ray, Jeremiah, and Zakk; eighteen great grandchildren; a brother, Barton Lycan and his wife, Eva, of Joplin, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, June 23, 2020 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home Chapel in Anderson, Missouri.
