Evelyn Phillips

Mrs. Evelyn Irene Phillips, 86, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, November 29, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after a recent decline in health.

Evelyn entered this life on November 1, 1934, in Joplin, Missouri, daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Snow) Bloyed. She was a lifelong resident of Joplin. 

On October 27, 1956, she was united in marriage to Bill Phillips and to this union two children were born, Richard and Leesa. 








Besides being a devoted homemaker, Evelyn worked a number of years at Goswick Bag Company, Messenger Publications and Sutherland Lumber Company. She enjoyed scrapbooking and cooking, but her greatest joy in life was simply being a wonderful Mom and Grandma. She was a member of Fir Road Christian Church in Carl Junction.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty years, Bill Phillips; and a brother, Ernest Bloyed.

Evelyn is survived by her two children, Richard Phillips of Joplin and Leesa Loggains and husband, Jimmy, of Carthage; two grandsons, Tyler Loggains and Jordan Loggains and wife, Erin; one great granddaughter, Dixon Grace Loggains; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2020 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Dan Toney officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Tyler Loggains, Jordan Loggains, Jeff Phillips, Gordon Riley, John Riley and Tony Moehr. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin. Arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
