(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Barbara J. Albert, 93 of Baxter Springs, KS passed from this life on January 7, 2022 at Wildwood Senior Living in Joplin, MO. Barbara was born October 17, 1928 in Picher, Oklahoma to the union of Earnest Ray and Genevieve (Banes) Skiles.
She was united in marriage to George Albert on November 29, 1973, he died August 27, 2015.
She and George loved to square dance and spend time in their yard gardening. They spent many vacations traveling the US and loved to hear stories from the locals of the places they were visiting. Barbara loved to sew, craft, quilt and bake cookies for her family, neighbors and friends. In her years of quilting, she made over 200 quilts which she gifted to family and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Albert, sister Virginia Shelton, son- in-law, Dean Panos and granddaughter Rebecca Taber.
She is survived by her daughter Kristina Panos, Prairie Village, KS, son Brian Taber, Baxter Springs, KS and sister Donna Brock. Her grandchildren, Michael (Emily) Panos, Lawrence, KS, Kristina Panos (Tim), Kansas City, MO, Jessica England (Ryan) Mt Vernon, MO, Victoria Taber, Pittsburg, KS and Joel (Erin) Taber Joplin, MO.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Pastor Shane Dotson will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made to First Christian Church (CYF) to support their annual Habitat for Humanity trip in care of the funeral home.
