(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Margaret Rozella (Layne) Wilkinson, age 89 of Joplin, Missouri passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
She was born August 18, 1932 in Spurgeon, Missouri to Joe and Gertrude (Minser) Layne. She has been a lifetime resident of the Joplin area.
Margaret married the love of her life, Odus Eugene Wilkinson, and they shared nearly fifty years of marriage together, before he passed away. They had two sons, Paul and Phillip.
Margaret was an avid reader and loved to lose herself in a good book. She also enjoyed dancing, traveling, taking cruises, and visiting Branson. She made sure to see any new show that Branson offered. She will be remembered for always knowing how every one of her family members were doing, and making sure if any of them needed anything, they could come to her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Wilkinson; parents, Joe Layne and Gertrude Layne; siblings, Joe Layne; Jack Layne; Andy Layne; Ethel Kasper; Garnett Thomas, and her beloved dog, Katy.
Margaret is survived by her two sons, Paul Wilkinson and wife Penny of Joplin, Mo; Phillip Wilkinson and wife Tara, of Joplin; grandchildren, Paul C. Wilkinson; Susan Monehan and husband Matthew; Galen Wilkinson and wife Cindy; Brandon Wilkinson; great-granchildren, Lydee Monehan; Tristin Gilles; and Jotham Ricke.
