(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Betty June Ireland, 85 of Baxter Springs, KS passed from this life on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at her home in Baxer Springs, KS.
Betty was born January 13, 1937 in Jane, Missouri to the union of Fred Lewis and Truth Marie (Cunningham) Andrews. After graduating from Joplin High School with the class of 1955, Betty attended Pittsburg State Teachers College. She was a homemaker for years before working as a medical aide at Autry’s Homeplace.
Betty was a member of the Trinity Worship Center, Baxter Springs, KS. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and former member of the DAV. Betty enjoyed reading, seamstress work and learning new things.
Betty was united in marriage to Norman Ireland on April 29, 1955 in Galena, KS. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2009. Betty is also preceded in death by her parents.
Betty is survived by two sons, John Ireland and wife Beverly of Seneca, MO, and James Ireland-VonBrookner and wife Connie of Baxter Springs, KS; one daughter, Judy Salyers and husband Jay of Galena, MO sister, Lucy Smith of Joplin, MO; three grandchildren Ezra Ireland, Ryan VonBrookner, and April LaForest; and five great grandchildren Alisa Ireland, Christian Ireland, Avery Slimp Jr., Ashton Slimp, and Jayme VonBrookner; along with extended family.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Pastor Steve Fellers will officiate. Family will receive friends Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
