(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)Larry Gene Peckham, 85, of Sarcoxie, Missouri passed away Monday, September 19, 2022. He was born in Wichita, Kansas, son of Charles M. Peckham and Bessie A. Young. Bessie married Francis Lovelady after the passing of Charles.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Friends University 1955-1959. October 6, 2017 he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for Baseball, Basketball, Track & Tennis. YMCA Youth Director, Salina, Kansas for five years. District Supervisor of Land Management Nebraska Game & Park Commission, six years. Teacher and Coach, sixteen years. Larry & Mary owned the Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store in Sarcoxie Missouri, six years. Missouri Certified Nurseryman, Garden Manager & Landscape Design, five years.
June 8, 1962, Larry married his college sweetheart homecoming queen, Mary Moore. “I loved you then, I love you still, I always have, I always will.” Larry had a strong faith and believed in serving the Lord. He was an elder at Risen Ranch Cowboy Church. Larry’s hobbies included gardening & plant propagating, woodworking & crafts and fishing. Every day was a little sweeter with a bowl of ice cream.
Larry and Mary were married sixty years, to this union three children were born, daughter, Lori Gist, husband Robert; granddaughter Megan, husband, Dillon and expecting great-grandson in December, 2022; daughter, LeAnn Stewart; grandsons Trey, Tanner, Tavin; son, Greg Peckham, wife Dena; grandchildren Cade, Abby, Emma, Owen, Aden, Ryan, Zane, Elsy and Isla.
Celebration of life for Larry will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Risen Ranch Cowboy Church with Pastor Steve Stafford officiating.
