Jeneda Whiteley

Jeneda Fay Whiteley, 87, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at the Arbors at Silver Creek Facility in Joplin, Missouri. 

Jeneda was born on June 10, 1935, in Hood River, Oregon, to Charles Vernon Bryant and Flossie F. “Phillips” Bryant. Jeneda was a longtime Carthage resident and was employed by Butterball. 

She enjoyed quilting and cooking. Some of her favorite recipes to make were German chocolate cake, pumpkin pie, and chicken and noodles. She was a dedicated member of Three Points Full Gospel Church in Brooklyn Heights, and she loved Jesus very much. Jeneda’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life, and she loved every minute she spent with them.








Jeneda was joined in marriage to Andrew J. “Jack” Whiteley on August 23, 1952, in Bentonville, Arkansas; he preceded her in death on June 21, 2018.

Jeneda is survived by her sons, Jacky Whiteley, and Doug Whiteley (Pam); daughters, Cheryl Strait (Dennis), and Marylin Dunham (Rich); eight grandchildren, Josh Whiteley, Matt Whiteley (Jess), Rachel Beckett (Josh), Christopher Dunham (Myranda), John Dunham, Shane Dunham (Katie), Zachary Strait (Darryllann), and Amber Millard; 23 great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Jim Bryant.

Along with her husband Jack Whiteley, she is preceded in death by her son Gary Whiteley; parents, Charles and Flossie Bryant; her daughter in law, Freda Whiteley; and siblings, Ellis Ray Bryant, Thelma Koger, Dorothy Brannon, and Sharon Pathkiller.

The family of Jeneda Whiteley would like to express their appreciation for the care she received from the staffs of Maple Tree Terrace, Arbor's Memory Care, and Integrity Hospice facilities.








A service will be held for Jeneda at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. A visitation will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Mount Hope Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri.
