(From Simpson Funeral Home)William J "Billy Jo" Harnden, age 65, passed away on September 24, 2022 at his home in Carterville. He was born on June 28, 1957 to Jessie "Jess" and Sue Harnden in Nevada, Mo.
Billy Jo was known for being an avid walker around his hometown of Carterville, and enjoyed being with his family and friends.
Billy Jo loved NASCAR and playing pool, all while enjoying a cold coke. He was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, as well as one NASCAR driver in particular, Dale Earnhardt.

He lived with his father, Jess, for most of his life until his passing in 2009. William adored his father, watching him serve in many capacities of public service, notably the past mayor of Carterville of 11 years.
Billy is survived by numerous cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Harnden, in 2009; his mother, Sue (Henry) Harnden, who passed away in June of 1994; brother Gene and sister Bille; along with several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 10am on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Carterville Cemetery, with Rev. Darren Wallace officiating.
