(From Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home)Norma Louise Moots, age 95, of Miller, Missouri, passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood, Missouri. She was born November 27, 1926, in Dade County, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Alma (Vogel) Kahre.
Norma was a graduate of Lockwood High School in Lockwood, Missouri and shortly after graduating, she began teaching school in rural schools in Dade County for a couple of terms. After the second term, the school board asked her to take a few college hours, which would look good on her contract. She enrolled at Bolivar, at Southwest Baptist College.
On March 12, 1946, she married Merritt Lee Moots, in Springfield, Missouri. They resided in the Round Grove Community all their married life. Merritt Lee preceded her in death on July 13, 1987. Norma was a wonderful wife and help to her husband. She was also a wonderful mother to her two boys, Terry and Dan and to her daughter, Christine. Later in her life she worked as a clerk for the Ben Franklin Store in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. In her spare time, she loved reading, quilting, sewing, crocheting, knitting and a variety of other projects. She loved writing poetry, playing the piano, including playing for weddings and funerals. She loved listening to Southern Gospel Music. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan and listened faithfully to the games no matter how late the game was on. She enjoyed seeing her grandkids play sports and was their best cheerleader. She was an important part of the Round Grove Community and was even given the title of Mayor of Round Grove. She attended Round Grove Baptist Church until her health began to fail. She loved spending time with her family and friends, catching up on all the happenings and news.
Norma is survived by two sons, Terry Moots and his wife, Shirley, of Springfield, Missouri and Daniel Moots of Miller, Missouri; son-in-law, Danny Decker of Flemington, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Mary Kahre of Lockwood, Missouri, Shirley Moots of Springfield, Missouri and Barbara Kahre of Charleston, West Virginia; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Henry, and Alma; her husband, Merritt; her daughter, Christine Decker; one sister, Wanda Leeper; three brothers, Edward, Gene, and Raymond Kahre, and daughter-in-law, Lori Moots.
A funeral service, under the direction of the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home in Miller, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Round Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Round Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the church.
