Myrna Chesnutt

Myrna Chesnutt, 81, of Chetopa, passed away at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Myrna Margaret Chesnutt was born on May 26, 1941, to Horace Myrn and Laura Jean (Tullis) Chesnutt in Columbus, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in Chetopa, graduating from Chetopa High School in 1959.








Following high school, Myrna attended NEO at Miami, and earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Pittsburg State University. For many years, she worked at Joplin Supply, and then also at Joplin Stockyard and Welch Stockyards. For over 45 years, Myrna clerked the Chesnutt & Chesnutt Auctions.

Myrna had a real sweet tooth. She enjoyed shopping for clothes and jewelry. Garage sales and thrift stores were a favorite too.

Survivors include:

One nephew – Cody Chesnutt (Sharla) of Oswego, Kansas

One great-niece – Kristen Chesnutt of Parsons, Kansas

One great nephew – Austin Chesnutt of Oswego, Kansas








She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerry Chesnutt.

The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will follow at Lake Creek Cemetery in Bartlett. The family will receive friends 7 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Labette County Fair Board. These may be left at or mailed to the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS 67336.
