(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Robert “Bob” Lee Cockrell, 74, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Bob was born on February 12, 1948, to Harold Cockrell and Myrtle "Anderson" Overby in Carthage.
He was a lifetime Carthage resident, he retired from the Gas Service Company and then later retired from Jasper County Road District. Bob served in the United States Coast Guard from 1967 to 1971 then transferred to the reserves. He loved to spend his free time fishing and he was a member of the Center Creek Social Club.
Survivors include two sisters, Sally McGuire (Ralph) of Webb City, Missouri, and Sherry Stokes (Kenny) of Olathe, Kansas; three nieces, Michelle Lewis (Kevin) and family of Edmond, Oklahoma, Staci Acheson (Ben) and family of Olathe, Kansas, and Stephanie Snyder (Kyle) and family of Olathe, Kansas; one nephew Marc McGuire (Debbie) and family of Springfield, Missouri.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Harold Cockrell; mother, Myrtle Overby; and brother John Cockrell.
Per Bob’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a private family service will be held at a later date.
