Joyce Sill

(From Parker Mortuary)

Joyce Irene (Rookstool) Sill was born December 3, 1948 in Pittsburg, Kansas and passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2026. She was one of six children born to Edward & Freida Rookstool. The Rookstool family moved to Joplin, Missouri where she attended West Central school and then Carl Junction High School, graduating in 1966.

Joyce married David Sill, the Love of her life (Soul Mate) on June 3, 1967. She always said Dave was “My Soldier Boy.” Joyce worked as a telephone operator in Joplin, Missouri while David was with the Air Force in Vietnam. Later, she worked for Motorola in Joplin and Display Tech at the Carthage Missouri Underground. Joyce was very proud to be the first in her family to graduate college at Vatterott in 1999. She then went to work for Ferguson Medical Labs as a Medical Transcriptionist where she later retired.

Joyce & David had two beautiful children, Clifford Wayne and Joy Lynn. Joyce loved her husband, her children, flowers & butterflies…but most of all she loved the LORD. She said that if it wasn’t for David, she would not have known the Lord. Joyce & David celebrated 59 years of Wedded Bliss.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Samuel (Edward) Rookstool and Freida (Keitel) Rookstool as well as one sister Jocelyn and two brothers, Donnie & Leonard. She is survived by her husband David, son Clifford Sill, daughter Joy (Sill) Goepfert and Grandsons Ries Goepfert and Cory Seller. She is also survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Branham (John) and Eunice Spainhower plus a very large collection of bonus brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and Church family.

What else can you say about a life full of Love? She will be sorely missed.

The family would like to Thank Randi Norman, PA and Dr. Russell Kennedy’s office, Carly and the staff at Gentiva Hospice Care, Cindy and the staff at Wildwood Westgate Residential care facility, and the staff at Cornerstone Caregiving. You all took such good care of Joyce. We also want to thank our church family at New Hope church in Carl Junction and all the family and friends that helped us through this period by lending your ears and prayers.

A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Church in Carl Junction, Mo. with Pastor Randy Steele officiating. The family invites friends for a time of visitation on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel in Joplin, MO.
