(From Knell Mortuary)P.J. Jones, Jr., age 45, passed away at his home on Monday, June 15, 2026. Born on April 5, 1981, in Suffolk, Virginia, he was the son of Wanda Hughes and the late Peter Joseph Jones.
A 1999 graduate of Western Branch High School in Virginia, P.J., was a veteran serving his country with the United States Marine Corp from 2000-2004 as an E-4 Aircraft Electrical Flight Technician. He rec'd National Defense Service Metal and Marine Core Good Conduct Metal. He went on to build a dedicated career as a panel operator for Arcwood Environmental. He was known and respected for his dependable nature, strong work ethic, and easygoing spirit.
P.J. will be remembered most for the joy he brought to those around him. Funny, friendly, and loving, he had a special way of making people feel welcome and at ease. Nothing meant more to him than his children, and some of his happiest moments were spent coaching them in youth football and baseball in Webb City. He found great pride and happiness in being present in their lives, cheering them on from the sidelines, and supporting them every step of the way.
He also had a deep love for the outdoors and greatly enjoyed spending time doing the things that brought him peace and happiness. P.J. was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he especially loved morel mushroom hunting. He was also a devoted San Francisco 49ers fan who followed his team with enthusiasm and pride. These passions reflected his love of simple pleasures, time spent with family and friends, and the traditions he held dear.
He is survived by his children, Pierson Jones, Hendrix Jones, and Broderick Jones; his mother, Wanda Hughes and husband David; his sisters, Debra Wheeler and husband Michael, and Charlotte Nuckles and fiance Eric; his brothers, D.J. Babb and wife Ashley, John Jones and wife Anna, and Boo Jernigan and wife Fran; the mother of his children, Brandi Jones; his grandmother, Ethel Hebrock; and many extended family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Joseph Jones, as well as other loved ones who helped shape his life and whose memories remained close to his heart.
A memorial celebration of life will be held from 10 am – 12 pm, Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
