Paul Eugene Viney, age 96, Joplin, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018 at National Health Care of Joplin.
Paul was born June 21, 1922 in Kingman, Kansas, son of the late Frank Viney and Ethel Thorpe Viney. He attended school in California, and graduated from Norwalk High School in Norwalk, California. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II, serving in the Philippines and Burma. He worked for Coleman Tool in Wichita, Kansas from 1949 through 1961. During that time he earned his Master's Degree as a Tool and Die Maker. He then worked for Hughes Air Craft from 1961 until retiring in 1984. He moved to Joplin in 1998.
Paul loved the outdoors, and enjoyed spending time with his family outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, and camping with family. He was also an avid bowler throughout his life. He was devoted and loyal to his family, he would speak his mind, and was always thankful for his family, and what he had in life. He was a member of Central Christian Center in Joplin.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his first wife, Omie S. Viney who died June 4, 1998, two sisters, and a brother.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Viney whom he married April 3, 1999 in Joplin; daughters, Pauline Quattlebaum and husband David, Linda Miller and husband David all of Joplin; step-children, Rhonda Fanning and husband Jim of Joplin, Linda Rowland and husband Bill of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Gloria Myler of Joplin, Mike Curl of Joplin, Mark Curl of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Aaron Curl and wife Renee of Carthage, Missouri; 27 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Hank Deslatte and Rev. Doug Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow in Burkhart Cemetery, Racine, Missouri with grandsons serving as pallbearers, and full military honors.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Tuesday from 2:00 until service time.
