Dorothy Ann Norton, age 86, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at her home.
Dorothy was born January 30, 1932 in Neosho, Missouri, daughter of the late John F. Payton and Thelma Cutburth Payton. She moved to California at the age of 23, and opened a day care, Norton's Day Care, which she ran for years. She married Curtis B. Norton on July 9, 1960. They returned to the Joplin area in 1989. She attended Hornet Pentecostal Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John F. Brockman in 1970, a sister, Ruth Ritter, and a brother, Everette Eads, Sr.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Curtis; sons, Billy David Brockman of Joplin, Fred E. Brockman and wife Rowena of Wyandotte, Oklahoma; stepchildren, Peggy Ann Hatfield, Kathy Darlene Carrillio and husband Chick, Lisa K. Martin all of Porterville, California, and Steve Norton and wife Tina; sisters, Jayne Atkins of St. Louis, Missouri, Helen Lawson of Joplin, Imogene Norred of Fernley, Nevada, and Montie Richwine of Moore, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Tracy Holden officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
