Jack Warren Kirk of Lamar, Missouri died July 7, 2018 at Cox Barton County Hospital. Jack was born to Nola (Bench) and Fred Kirk on a frosty Dallas County day at home near Ira, Missouri on the morning of October 24, 1926. He grew up on the country farm and attended a one room school for 8 years, then attended Tunas Consolidated School and graduated in the Class of 1945.
Jack went into the U.S. Army at Leavenworth, Kansas, where he served his term of duty during World War II in Europe as a rifleman and clerk typist in the 4th Armored Headquarters. He then deactivated to the constable brigade at Wiesbaden, Germany, where they trained as office machine mechanics. When he returned to Colorado, he then became a technician for the SCM Corporation, where he was promoted to field engineer and was employed for 30 years.
Jack moved his family to Nevada, Missouri and established a retail business of office machine repairs in 1975. Kirk Office Machines was in business for 30 years, where Evelyn was his right-hand helper. He loved to hunt and fish when he found a chance. He served on the Board of Directors for the Nevada Chamber of Commerce for eight years, member of Nevada Lions Club, Director of Nevada Habilitation Center Canteen for ten years, life member of V.F.W. As a Chairman of Deacons and a deacon himself, Jack taught Sunday School while attending Front Range Baptist Church in Thornton, Colorado. He became a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada before moving and becoming a current member of Lamar United Methodist Church.
Jack was married to Evelyn Lerlene (Warren) Williamson on November 25, 1954. They were beyond blessed with three children; a step-son and daughter-in-law Roger (Barb) Williamson of Denver, Colorado, along with his first wife, the late Rolena Williamson;. two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly (Larry) Kleinsasser of Northglenn, Colorado, and Amy (Kevin) Neher of Lamar, Missouri; five grandchildren Charlene Williamson, Andy Williamson, Amanda (Ryan) Graham, Zachary Neher, and Jackalynn Neher; eight great-grandchildren Kyle, Nicholas, Tyler (Jadyn), Courtney, Mara, Jared, Andrew, and Evelynn; an honorary third daughter, Terri Fischer; along with special friend Donna Harvey, who preceded him in death.
He leaves behind many special friends and extended family members, along with V.F.W., his beloved second family at Cox Barton County Hospital & Auxiliary, and his Lamar United Methodist Church family.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Lamar United Methodist Church, with burial to follow at 1:30 pm at Fort Scott National Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday at Lamar United Methodist Church.
