Michael William "Mike" Doyle, age 68, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at his home after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Mike was born October 14, 1949 in Lyons, Kansas, son of the late Harry W. Doyle and Patricia E. Read Doyle Renollet. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1967 where he played on the Basketball Team, and was a trombone player with the Marching Band.
Mike served in the United States Navy from 1968 until his retirement in 1990 with the rank of CPOC. He traveled the world during his time in service, which included time in Alabama, San Diego, Chicago, the Philippines, and Vietnam from 1969-1971.
Mike enjoyed sports, both playing and watching, and he even coached co-ed baseball. He also had a passion for cars, both classic and hotrods.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanina M. Calentine Doyle who passed away on April 29, 2015, a daughter, Cassandra.
Survivors include his son, David B. Doyle of Joplin, spouse, Stacy Weis of Joplin; sisters, Jeanne A. Duft and husband Randy of Kansas City, Kansas, Sharon K. Bassham and husband Keith of Springfield, Missouri, Diana S. Owen and husband Paul of Wichita, Kansas; brother-in-laws, Ron Calentine and wife Marge of Diamond, Missouri, and Jerry Calentine and wife Loretta of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain Clyde McClain officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at Parker Mortuary.
