Larry Horine

Larry Eugene Horine, age 72, Carl Junction, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in Webb City, Missouri.

Larry was born January 17, 1946 in Parsons, Kansas, son of the late John Washington Horine and Ruth Lorraine Libby Horine. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1964, and married Carolyn Sue Trimble on November 21, 1964 in Joplin.

He began his career with the Webb City Fire Department in January of 1969, and worked for them for 25 years, becoming Fire Chief in 1986. He retired in 1994 as Fire Chief, and then began a career as a truck driver for Schneider National Trucking Company. He worked for several years in the trucking industry, and retired from Buesing Transport. During that time he was also an instructor with Hook-Up Academy in Joplin.

Larry loved to travel, and was a huge NASCAR fan. He traveled with his family to several different tracks to visit the venue, and watch races. He was also a member of Connor Avenue Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Horine; sisters, Sharon Goettel, Cindy Horine, and Patty Friday; granddaughter, Hillarie Horine; and grandson, Emmet Horine.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carolyn; three sons, Jeffrey Scott Horine and wife Stephanie of Webb City, twin sons, John Matthew Horine and wife Chandice of Beeville, Texas, and James Michael Horine of Carl Junction; brother, David Horine of Joplin, sister, Betty Daniel of Aurora, Missouri; twin step-brothers, Lloyd Smith of Joplin, Floyd Smith of Florida; 12 grandchildren, Dustin Coppenbarger, Hillary Coppenbarger, Shane Horine, Nicholas Horine, Destiny Horine, Kenneth Horine, Alexis Horine, Zane Horine, Olivia Horine, David Horine, Annyka Horine, James " L. J." Horine; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, July 29, 2018 with family receiving friends at Parker Mortuary from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m..

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
