Betty Rae Wellesley, 87, Neosho, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2018.
Betty was born August 30, 1930 in Stark City, MO to Ray and Bertha (Wogoman) Embrey. She was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Neosho after high school. She also worked at Kraft Foods for many years and after retiring there, worked several years in the cafeteria at Teledyne. Betty moved to Neosho from Goodman in 1971. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren and attended Goodman First Baptist Church. Betty loved her cats, flowers, gardening, canning, and sewing. But her main love was her family, children, grandchildren, as well as her extended family. Betty was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher, assisted with Cub Scouts, and was a 4-H leader in Foods 1. She also did extensive research with her love of family genealogy.
Betty married Ervin Wellesley on April 18, 1953 in Fairview, MO and he survives. She is also survived by her children, Janet Talbot and husband, Brian, Joplin; Pam Dougherty and husband, Doug, McGaheysville, VA; and Galen Wellesley and wife, Debra, Platte City, MO; two sisters, Cathryn Taylor, Granby, and Shirley Kassner, Carthage; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 27 at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby, MO. Interment will follow at the Dice Cemetery, Fairview, MO; Weston Brandon, Matthew Brandon, Travis Wheeler, Chris Wheeler, Wade Wellesley, and Dan Teixeira will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 26 from 6-7 pm at Clark Funeral Home, Granby.
