David Patrick Murphy, age 58, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2017 at his residence.
He was born November 29, 1959 in Sacramento, California, to late Lawrence Daniel Murphy and Virginia Gloria Cordell Murphy.
David worked as a sprinkler fitter in California until an injury forced him to change careers.
He moved to Joplin in 1989, where he graduated from Missouri Southern State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology. He worked for Ozark Center's Turn Around Ranch, and Mount Vernon Boys Home before retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Murphy; and a sister, Sandra Murphy.
Survivors include his daughter, Samantha Murphy of Joplin; a son-in-law, Dwayne Ezell of Joplin; his grandson, D’Andre Ezell of Joplin; one sister-in-law, Christine Murphy of Joplin; two nieces, Lavena Murphy, and children, Wyatt and Gracie, Ileah Murphy and children, Zoe and Emma, all of Joplin; five nephews, Michael Murphy of Joplin, Daniel Murphy and wife, Nikki of Maryland, and David, James, and Eugene Mahan, all of Oklahoma.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and mat be left care of Parker Mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary
