Lynden Lee Carr, age 82, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018.
Lyn was born April 23, 1936 in Joplin, Missouri, to the late Printess and Anna (Becklin) Carr.
He attended grade school in Prosperity and graduated from Carterville High School. After high school, Lyn was drafted into the Army where he faithfully served his country. He worked as a machinist at Boeing in Wichita before relocating to Joplin to care for his mother. Lyn was also a machinist for Sperry-Vickers in Joplin, retiring in the late 70s. After his retirement, Lyn started up his dirt hauling business which he operated for the next decade.
On December 14, 1964 he was united in marriage to Glenna Sue Conway of Wellington, Kansas, and together they shared 53 years of marriage before her passing on February 24, 2018. Lyn enjoyed riding his motorcycle, his Austin-Healey and going to the casino with Sue. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed taking care of the farm.
Lyn was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Glenna Sue; and six siblings.
Survivors include his daughter, Fay Ann Nelson and husband, Robert, of Joplin, Missouri; his son, Scott Carr and the late Ingrid, of Joplin, Missouri; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Pete Carr, of Webb City; a brother-in-law, Thomas Fritsch, of Wellington, Kansas; as well as a host nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Dorris officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Research Foundation and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
