Betty Jo Hurtt, age 77, Joplin, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at her home after an illness.
Betty was born April 29, 1941 in Joplin to the late Perry Lee Taylor and Hazel Marie Vanvolkinburg Taylor and had lived in Joplin all of her life.
A homemaker, Betty enjoyed everything the outdoors had to offer. She loved fishing and spending time with her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Betty married Russell Hurtt, Sr. on August 31, 1958 in Miami, Oklahoma. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include four children, Vicky Ferguson, Galena, Debra McCumber, Joplin, Russell Hurtt, Jr., Joplin, Christopher Hurtt, Joplin; siblings, Dixie Hicks, Joplin, Rosalee Wood, Carl Junction, Tony Taylor, Joplin; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Services are planned for Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Larry Wood will officiate. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Hurtt, Sr., Christopher Hurtt, Jr., Mekie Lange, Clayton Hurtt, Kevin Thornton, Doug Thornton, Dewayne Ferguson, Josh Ferguson and Steven Perry. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
